Ensuring that students have the resources, opportunities and support to pursue STEM education is crucial to the nation’s economic progress. Mentorship and Orientation remains one of the best ways to support students in this regard.
The Youth Bridge Foundation (YBF), implementers of the Tullow funded Educate to Innovate with STEM project, against this background organized a Tertiary Orientation and Mentorship Seminar for its STEM Bridge Club Ambassadors (SHS Student Beneficiaries) who have progressed to the tertiary level.
The session dubbed the “EDUConnekt” Forum was designed to achieve the following;
- Provide a Freshers’ Pre-Departure Orientation
- Connect Tertiary Students to Professionals and Educationists
- Enhance a cascade of mentorship; that is from professionals to peers/seniors to students
On Thursday, 12th January 2023, the event took place at the YouThink STEM Hub, Agona Nkwanta hosting sixty six (66) students comprising of 54 freshmen of which 25 were female and 29 were male as well as 12 continuing students of which 5 were female and 7 males.
The beneficiaries also engaged with the Ghana Education Service Officials, teachers from the Project’s STEM Teacher Volunteer Corp, STEM professionals and Young Professionals in STEM including staff and representatives of Tullow Oil Ghana Limited.
